UTSA MEN'S SOCCER CLUB BUILDS ITS SUCCESS ON THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION OF PLAYERS AND COACHES. UTSA DOES NOT HAVE A NCAA MEN'S VARSITY SOCCER PROGRAM. AS SUCH, THE UTSA MEN'S SOCCER CLUB IS THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF COMPETITIVE SOCCER AT UTSA.
JOINING UTSA MEN'S SOCCER CLUB
A two-day tryout is held during the first week of school of the Fall semester. Players must bring their UTSA student ID and $20 for tryouts and will be given number that will allow us to identify you. Tryouts test player's physical conditioning, technical ability, and mental awareness.
Regular season takes place in August and September, but can continue well into November depending on season performance. Regionals and Nationals take place in different locations every year.
Spring season gives the opportunity for prospects to train and play with the first team. Open training sessions are available throughout the Spring semester and give players a better chance at tryouts for the following season.
TIME COMMITMENT
Practice is held two times a week on Tuesday and Thursday from 8-10 pm. We have one to two games on most weekends. Time management from players is very important. Players need to study and work around the time allotted for practice as well as games. Practice time and days are subject to change each year depending on player's availability.
COST TO PLAY
UTSA Men's Soccer Club is not a NCAA varsity program. As such, we must fund all expenses ourselves. Every year, the team receives an allotment from UTSA Campus Rec as well as small donations from contributors. The team also receives financial help from sponsors. Still, fundraisers and dues are a vital source of income for the club program. Fundraisers are planned and carried out as seen fit throughout the year. Dues are mandatory for every player each year. Tryouts cost $20 to participate. If chosen, the $20 tryout fee will go towards the mandatory $200 each player must pay in dues. This ensures the team's ability to pay for referees, travel, uniforms, entry fees, and much more.
